Rosa Mexicano is a stylish and festive restaurant that doesn’t try to do too much – just serve authentic Mexican food in plentiful portions at a reasonable price. That should be more than enough for families visiting Washington, D.C. You’ll be suitably impressed by the eatery’s pink decor and famous “wall of water,” but even more so by the menu, which features entrees like Ensalada de la Casa, Quesadillas and Calamares al Chile de Arbol.

The restaurant attracts a diverse crowd of tourists and locals to enjoy such dishes as Ceviche and fried calamari sprinkled with chile de arbol. Not to be missed is the guacamole, something of a local legend – it’s prepared right at the table. Have a more exotic taste? Try filet mignon topped with mushroom-tequila cream sauce or pan-seared duck breast with roasted pineapple. Holidays like Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day are indeed special occasions, with live music, gifts and added menu items. Should you want to imbibe a bit with your meal, the specialty of the house is a pomegranate margarita. Reservations are a must.
