Washington
DC's Pennsylvania Avenue
Location: Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, DC
Washington DC's Pennsylvania Avenue is one of the most
well-known streets in all the world, having been the site of so many special events,
parades, and military processions. As a matter of fact, this passageway has been
deemed special enough to be declared a National Historic Site. Families visiting
Washington, DC will do doubt find themselves strolling along this historic avenue
at one
time or another.
A walk down the avenue will provide you with great views
of the Capitol and many of the monuments as well as, of course, the White House,
located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. As you walk, you'll be following the footsteps
of history on this street that has played host to inaugural parades every four years,
funerals of some of our greatest presidents, infamous protest marches, and other
events honoring the country's most notable heroes. Stop along the way to view or
enjoy the many parks, plazas, statues, and memorials situated along the street.
