Washington DC Arlington Memorial Bridge, admired by many Washington D.C. visitors as one of the most beautiful bridges in the U.S., was built in a neo-classical urban design to match the other pristine buildings that make up the landmarks of the nation's capitol. While many drive over this expansive bridge each day, few may stop to actually admire it.

Crossing the Potomac River, the bridge is 2,163 feet long and 75 feet wide, including a 15-foot pedestrian walkway. Nine beautiful arches cross the river on this bridge, which was once a drawbridge but is now inoperative. Kids love walking across this bridge and stopping to snap some pictures of famous Washington D.C.'s landmarks as they cross.

The bridge holds much symbolism, linking North and South between the Lincoln Memorial and the Robert E. Lee Memorial at Arlington. Children who've studied the Civil War will recognize the significance. A huge equestrian statue is located at each end of the Arlington Memorial Bridge and many more sculptures are located within easy walking distance of the bridge, including statues depicting the Navy Seabees as well as one of a soldier from the Spanish-American War. All make great photo opportunities.
