Washington DC Albert Einstein Planetarium, part of Washington's Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, boasts state-of-the-art planetarium instruments and equipment that make this one of the best star-gazing experiences in the country.

As a matter of fact, the planetarium recently upgraded their old system to include SkyVision, a new dual digital projection system with six-channel digital surround sound for an amazing planetarium experience for the whole family. Shows run nearly every half hour each day during regular museum hours and change often, giving avid planetarium buffs an opportunity to see many shows in just a short period of time.

In addition, the planetarium holds special events that kids will love, like the Saturday Star Party, where interested amateur astronomers can gather with Smithsonian staff to learn even more about the sky above them. While admission to all the Smithsonian Institute's museums is free and a few planetarium shows are offered at no cost, you will need to pay to see the stars. Be sure to purchase tickets as soon as you arrive or even online before you get to Washington D.C., as the 233-seat theater fills up quickly during peak tourist months.
