Overview

Washington’s Sunset Serenade series at the National Zoo is a sure bet for a lovely evening out with the kids. The excitement
of the zoo and its inhabitants added to the promise of cool musical performances will have your kids hopping like little
kangaroos.

Every Thursday evening offers a different show, with the July 13 performance featuring the 257th Army Band playing patriotic music—always a favorite of the younger set.

They’ll be marching in step, tooting their own horns (imaginary of course) and conducting the beat. So gather them up and head out for Lion/Tiger Hill.

If you can’t make this particular show, mark your calendar for Redstone, playing classic rock, GHz, offering up some British blues/rock, Army Blue, playing what else, the blues, or SAMO, covering the reggae beat.

Bring a picnic or buy some snacks when you arrive, spread out your blanket or your folding chair, and get ready to tap those toes. It’s time for a sunset serenade!
