Washington, D.C., Restaurant Week provides a rare opportunity to sample the wares of more than 100 premier eating establishments at bargain-basement prices.
“Samplers” these are not: We’re talking multi-course meals prepared specially for the event.
Just choose lunch or dinner, then select from a mouth-watering array of tried-and-true restaurants along with some newly opened ones.
That category includes Capitol Hill’s Belga Café, with Belgian cuisine like veal sweetbreads with mashed potatoes and asparagus, seared scallops with carrot mousseline and cumin, and the Italian Notti Bianche, featuring such delicacies as hand-rolled cannelloni, spaghetti pomodoro and braised monkfish.
Other participants include Georgetown’s Bangkok Joe’s, which highlights spicy Thai dumplings, wontons and rolls, and noodle dishes, and the kid-friendly Harry’s Tap Room, specialist in locally produced beef and chicken as well as shellfish.
At the Oceanaire Seafood Room, try a a delectable variety of fresh fish, including halibut or dover sole.
The event is sponsored by the Washington Convention and Tourism Corporation and the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington. Prices are plus tax and tip. Not all participating restaurants will offer both lunch and dinner. |
