Cherry Blossom Festival Parade

Location: Constitution Avenue between 7th and 17th Streets, NW., Washington, DC
Time: April 9 at 10am

What says Spring better than the sight of the thousands of billowy blooming cherry blossom trees that line the streets of the nation’s capital each April? And what better way to celebrate their arrival than with a grand parade!!

The Cherry Blossom Festival Parade is Washington’s largest annual spectator event. Each year, thousands of tourists visit Washington DC to view the short blooming season of these lovely trees and to enjoy special Cherry Blossom Festival events such as the annual parade.

This year’s procession steps off at 10 am on April 9th from 7th and Constitution Avenue and travels through 10 city blocks and past crowds of excited children and adults.

More than a dozen bands join the parade, the largest event during the two-week festival. Cherry Blossom queens from both the US and Japan are featured and the usual parade fare such as clowns, giant balloons, horses, antique cars, and fire trucks aren’t far behind.

Don’t miss the official Cherry Blossom Festival All-Star Tap Dance Team, who’ll kick up a storm for this fun event. The streets get crowded quickly. Parade goers should arrive early for a good view.
