The 4th of July in Washington, DC | |
Location: National Mall Time: July 4, Noon-10pm events and dance parties until 9pm
The 4th of July in Washington, DC is a fantastic holiday experience. After all, is there anywhere better to celebrate the nation’s birthday than in the nation’s capital?
The parade kicks off at Noon, and features over 100 entries of bands from across the country, celebrities, horses, military vehicles, floats and much more.
Entertainment continues throughout the afternoon, and don’t miss the Smithsonian Folklife Festival held on the National Mall. Chefs of both local and national renown will speak and perform cooking demonstrations at three stages within the National Mall. Chefs will cover a wide variety of ethnic and creative foods from Iraqi to Korean to ice cream and California-style gourmet pizzas.
To further the patriotism of the holiday, take time between events to explore a monument the children might not have seen.
At 8pm, a nationally-televised free concert kicks off, featuring the National Symphony Orchestra, special guests such as famed singer Ronan Tynan and hosted by Barry Bostwick.
Following the concert, a gorgeous half-hour fireworks show, one of the biggest in the country, will go off over the Washington Monument.
The 4th of July activities will add to the wonderful, patriotic feeling inspired by the monuments and buildings of the nation’s capital. It’s an experience none of the family will ever forget! |
